On april 23, 1999, the bodies of two homicide victims were found in a drainage ditch between the pull-out and the boundary fence off highway 93, between the towns of wickenburg and wickieup. Both victims had gunshot wounds to the head. The victims were later identified as 39-year-old mesa, az resident william rodriguez and 20-year-old phoenix resident rebecca rubalcava.
