On october 8, 1979, john montgomery was shot and killed while fishing in rifle creek near mile marker 5.5 on cr 217. John was from california visiting colorado for a fishing/hunting trip with a friend. The suspect vehicle was described as a white over gold or yellow, mid 1970's chevy blazer.
