At approximately 10:09 a.M, officers from west precinct responded to 501 2nd place sw on a report of found human skeletal remains. Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting person who informed officers they were surveying a wooded area when they located a burned vehicle that appeared to contain human remains. Officers were led down a wooded path which revealed a burned vehicle. Officers then observed what appeared to be parts of a human skeleton scattered within and around the vehicle. Pathologist with the jefferson county’s coroner’s office responded to the scene and collected the remains. Later, birmingham police department’s homicide unit was notified that the found remain were those of the victim identified as daniel rickett. The coroners examination indicated the victim died from a gunshot wound
