Officer michael lee edwards was last seen alive at the los police academy on may 10, 1974, at approximately 2230 hours. Officer edwards was off-duty and drove from the academy in his own vehicle. On may 11, 1974, at 0900 hours, the body of officer edwards was discovered in a fire damaged one story vacant triplex in the 100 block of west 89th street, los angeles. The officer had been handcuffed and shot to death. 3 officer's vehicle was recovered in the 1000 block of west 186th st, los angeles, on may 11, 1974, at 2330 hours. This area was near the former ascot raceway and used as a frequent "Drop spot" for stolen vehicles. Officer edwards' revolver, which was stolen at the time of the murder, was recovered in las vegas, nv. In 1981.
