Cold case spotlight jillian marie berrios, 27, was gunned down at 5:39 a.M. Oct. 19, 2013, as she sat in her car with a friend in the parking lot of park place apartments on loring avenue in orange park. Berrios was dropping off the friend following an evening out. The killer or killers walked up and opened fire on her car. Berrios was shot multiple times at close range while sitting in the driver's seat. She died at orange park medical center. Her passenger was wounded and has recovered. Police continue tracking down leads and are searching for a red 2003 to 2008 chevrolet aveo hatchback occupied by two african-american men. In addition to witness statements, video from security cameras shows that vehicle followed berrios' vehicle from a jacksonville nightclub en route to orange park. Immediately after the shooting, traffic cameras recorded the red car fleeing the scene. Berrios and her friend had been to several nightclubs that evening with the last being taboo bar and grill on atlantic boulevard. Police have received numerous tips from crime stoppers. "We had some that actually gave us promising information but unfortunately they weren't specific enough to garner anything from that information," detectives said. "One of the things we've been trying to do is get the people who have contacted crime stoppers and gave specific information about the case to either contact crime stoppers again, or contact us directly so we can ask them the questions directly." anyone with information about this case, the identity, or location of the suspect(s) is asked to contact the orange park police department at 904-264-5555.
