On february 19, 1997 at about 11:30 am, three hunters were hunting for mountain lions with a dog when they discovered the remains of who was later identified as james dean alderton. Alderton's remains were found about four tenths of a mile up gilson gulch, north of idaho springs. The body was nearly completely skeletonized. The medical examiner later determined that apart of the body had evidence of a gunshot wound. On july 14, 1993, john kaesik was found off an embankment 7.7 miles south of idaho springs on highway 103. He had been shot in the head. During the course of the investigation it was determined kaesik was a low level drug dealer, dealing in marijuana and cocaine and may have been involved in a drug deal at the time of his death. His vehicle, a black gmc jimmy, was found by wheat ridge police at I-70 and kipling on september 7, 1993. 50 year old keith reinhard of algonquin, illinois, was a daily herald sports writer for 22 years with a passion for covering high school sports. Mr. Reinhard had taken a 90 day leave of absence from the herald to work, write, reflect and regenerate in the colorado town of silver plume, 70 miles west of denver. He disappeared in colorado on august 7, 1988. During that summer, mr. Reinhard lived in a small apartment in the back of an abandoned catholic church and rented a tiny shop where he sold matted photographs. He also worked on a novel he was writing. Friends described mr. Reinhard as a free spirit and said his interest in photography and in panning for gold in colorado rivers took him west. Mr. Reinhard went to colorado alone, leaving his wife of three years at home. Around 5pm on august 7, mr. Reinhard announced he was heading into the mountains for a brief hike, in the area south of interstate 70. He was last seen wearing casual clothing and gym shoes. Mr. Reinhard said that he was going to hike to the top of pendleton mountain. He failed to return at 10pm as scheduled. A day later, when mr. Reinhard had not returned, a massive ground and air search began. The official search for him was called off august 14, 1988, after hundreds of searchers (one of them killed when his small plane crashed in the rocky terrain) logged more than 10,000 man-hours without finding a single clue. Since february 1999, the westminster and thornton police departments detectives have investigated the suspicious disappearance of nine year old sarah skiba, her father paul skiba and lorenzo chivers, an employee of paul's moving company and storage facility (tuff's moving) located on the 7000 block of raleigh street, westminster. Physical evidence was located at the moving and storage facility and in or on two moving trucks owned by the business. Blood found at the facility was confirmed to be human blood by the colorado bureau of investigation and identified through dna as being from paul and sarah skiba. On february 17, 1999, a vehicle belonging to lorenzo chivers was located several blocks away from the moving and storage facility at the apartment complex parking lot of 3809 west 68th avenue, westminster, and on february 27, 1999, the vehicle belonging to paul skiba was located in an apartment complex parking lot at the 3100 block of arkansas, denver. The investigation and forensic evidence indicate sarah and paul skiba and lorenzo chivers were likely murdered near 72nd avenue and raleigh street in westminster on february 7, 1999. Their bodies have never been recovered. The case has been reclassified as a homicide investigation. Second photo is age-progressed to 16 years, third photo is age-progressed to 22 years.
