Upon arrival, east precinct officers responded to the location and observed ms. Johnson suffering from an unknown injury. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene and attempted cpr to no avail. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. A homicide detective and evidence technician arrived at the scene of what was believed to be an unclassified death at the time.The jefferson county medical examiner’s office contacted the birmingham police department to advise the victim’s death should be classified as a homicide. Currently, there is no one in custody.

Deceased.Bfr transported the adult female victim to a local area hospital; she suffered serious injuries.The preliminary investigation suggests the gunshot victims went to the area and then were involved in a verbal argument with a party they knew. Shots were fired.There was a heavy police presence on the scene; officers believed the suspect was still in the area. Officers were able to talk a person of interest into coming outside of a residence. The person of interest was taken into custody free of incident. The person of interest was transported to bpd headquarters where he will be interviewed by homicide detectives. Omicide detectives will present case information to the jefferson county district attorney’s office who will then decide whether criminal charges should be filed.

The cause of this crash can be attributed to at least one known fact. Ms. Tanner was struck by an unknown vehicle, believed to be a motorcycle, and being driven by an unknown person. Multiple videos were collected from businesses that showed two motorcycles traveling through the area during the time of the crash. Video obtained from beachbreak by the sea corroborates the witnesses' account of the two motorcycles passing a mustang in the area of hills road just prior to the crash. Video collected from the sunrise condos, just east of the crash site, shows two motorcycles eastbound at the time of the crash. Investigators with the traffic homicide unit and the criminal investigations division also followed up on multiple leads and tips. This resulted in several interviews and photos of different motorcycles being obtained. None of the leads or tips were instrumental in identifying and locating a suspect in this case.
