Description: Dui: A deputy responded to an auto accident in the area. Information was provided that the vehicle had gone off the road. Upon making contact, the driver displayed signs of impairment, including a strong odor of alcohol coming from their breath, an unsteady balance, slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. The driver declined to participate in field sobriety tests, but provided a breath sample. The driver was subsequently arrested. At the Sheriff’s Office, a breath sample revealed that the driver’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. The driver was identified as Maynard Coddington Jr., 76, of Fredericksburg. Coddington Jr. was charged with driving under the influence.

On august 19, 1984, at approximately 4:15 a.M., virginia state trooper johnny rush bowman was brutally attacked and stabbed 45 times by an unknown assailant(s) while off-duty at his home located on patterson place in the city of manassas, virginia. The assailant(s) fled on foot leaving behind a wig, hardhat and eye glasses. Trooper bowman died a short time later at a local hospital. His murder remains an active homicide investigation.
