At approximately 11:20 pm, a north precinct officer was on patrol in the 800 block of finley boulevard when he heard multiple gunshots fired. Officers responded to the 1600 block of 8th street west and the surrounding area when they observed the victim lying unresponsive in an alleyway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham fire and rescue (bfr) pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim along with several other adult males were in the area when an unknown suspect(s) opened fire on them. The victim along with four other males was struck by gunfire. Bfr transported three of the males to uab hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
