Friends and relatives became concerned for lillian halpin after not hearing from her for several days in september of 1982. On september 12, at approximately 4:00 pm, friends came over to her apartment on the 9400 block of n. St. Louis avenue to check on her and discovered that ms. Halpin had been strangled. Ms. Halpin, a 59-year-old white woman, was a widow and manager of the apartment complex she resided in. Ms. Halpin had no criminal history with no reported drug use and no known boyfriend. She was last heard from on september 8 at approximately 5:00 pm.
