Info

On july 4, 2012, michelle packard was watching fireworks at adado riverfront park. She appeared to have a seizure, but once at the hospital it was discovered that she had been shot. Michelle was most likely struck by a bullet that was shot into the air by a subject celebrating the 4th of july. Michelle was a highly educated woman, graduating valedictorian in 1996 from tawas high school. After high school she earned her bs from msu, ms from university of michigan and then was working on her phd at msu in the science field. At one point she worked for the center of disease control and prevention and her work still has an impact on the bio and medical community today. She and her fiancé, john-wesley thomas, were to be married in june 2013. Her fiancé had a daughter that michelle treated as her own. As a couple, they enjoyed fostering animals from the capital area humane society. She had a great love of dogs. Michelle was known for her smile and great laugh. She was also described as kind, compassionate and fun by family and friends. Michelle is very much missed by her mother and sister. Her last act of kindness was the donation of her organs so others might have a chance to do something great themselves.
