Description: What began as an investigation into a shoplifting incident at a Covington-area retail store resulted in two people being arrested on drug and weapons charges. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified Saturday (August 8) after a man was observed “swapping tags” while checking out at a Covington-area home improvement store. Through their investigation, deputies identified the man as the suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest for L.R.S. 14:68.7 – Receipts and Universal Product Code Labels; Unlawful Acts. On Sunday (August 9), the same STPSO patrol deputy who responded to the original shoplifting complaint went to the suspect’s residence in the the location near Covington to execute a search warrant in an attempt to locate the suspect and the stolen property.
