Description: Eighth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Central Islip man for Leaving the Scene of an Incident with an Injury that occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 3:51 pm in Farmingdale. According to detectives, a toddler, 2, was in the vicinity of 416 Conklin Street and unexpectedly ran into the roadway. The boy’s mother, 28, attempted to retrieve him. A 1998 Peterbilt was traveling eastbound on Conklin Street, struck both of them and continued traveling eastbound. The toddler suffered an abrasion to his leg. His mother suffered injuries to her hip and legs. They were transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation. A thorough investigation was conducted and [subject], was arrested. The vehicle was impounded for a brake and safety check. The investigation is on going. [subject] is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with Injury. He was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable on 8/21/2026 at First District Court, Hempstead.
