Description: Domestic Battery / Interference with Reporting of Domestic Violence. Des Plaines Police responded to the 2100 Block of Spruce Avenue for the report of a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim, the subject, [individual], who stated that he had been scratched by the victim but otherwise there had been no other physical contact.  Officers then spoke with the victim, who stated she shares a relationship with Ali, and on today's date they had been arguing. During the argument, she attempted to grab a bottle from Ali and accidentally scratched him, but he had left the property. When he returned, Ali pushed and punched her. The victim grabbed her phone in an attempt to call 9-1-1 but Ali took it away from her, preventing her from calling for help.  Officers observed physical signs of a struggle on the victim consistent with her statement. Ali was taken into custody and transported to the Des Plaines Police station where he was subsequently arrested for one misdemeanor count each of Domestic Battery and the Interference with Reporting of Domestic Violent. He was later brought to a Cook County courthouse for a detention hearing.
