Just after 4:30 p.M., officers from the west precinct responded to a call of a person shot at 108 dougan avenue at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim joshua rogers on the ground just outside of the back passenger side of a vehicle. Rogers sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham fire and rescue and the jefferson county coroner responded to the scene where the victim was pronounced deceased.Two persons of interest were detained at a nearby gas station and will be questioned by investigators. A clear motive has not been established, however it appears rogers was the target of an ambush. The investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided as this case develops.
