At approximately 9:21 pm, north precinct officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of 12th avenue north on report of a person lying on the ground bleeding. Officers arrived on scene and observed the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to uab hospital where, shortly after his arrival, he was pronounced deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and an unknown male suspect had a verbal altercation prior to the shooting. The suspect fled in an unknown direction while on foot.Agency
