Mr. Santos was found deceased in his gray 1994 chevrolet cavalier on july 9, 2004 at about 22:18 hours. His vehicle had drifted from across the inside westbound lane of highway 36, across the inside westbound lane, coming to rest against the concrete barrier. Mr. Santos had been shot once in the left side of the head with a small caliber weapon, as he drove on highway 36. According to witnesses, a vehicle had passed him in the left lane just before his car started to drift toward the center barrier.
