On april 20, 2011, at approximately 2245 hours, a vehicle traveling on newton road struck jones who was lying in the roadway. Officers arrived and determined while the driver did nudge the body in the road with their car, jones was already unconscious from gunshot wounds. Jones was taken to norfolk general via nightingale where he died from his gunshot injuries. Several witnesses in the area heard gunshots prior to jones being found in the roadway.Agency
