On june 4, 2016 at approximately 2:12 a.M., lvmpd patrol officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of north jones boulevard to investigate reports of a man who had been shot and was lying in the street. Arriving officers located a male later identified as avery turner lying in the street on jones south of smoke ranch suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived and transported turner to the umc trauma center where he was later pronounced deceased. Turner was seen with a possible suspect just before the shots were fired. After turner was shot, he walked to the center median of jones where he was found by responding patrol officers. The suspect was last seen running into the ashford manor apartment complex. The suspect can only be described as a black male adult in his 20’s. He stood approximately 5’6” tall, had short hair, and was last seen wearing a white tee shirt and red pants.Agency
