On the evening of february 28, 1978, thomas gutierrez and his wife were returning home from a funeral. Shortly after thomas parked the car, he and his wife walked towards their baker neighborhood home. It was at this point that unknown suspect(s) fired shots in the direction of the couple. Both thomas and his wife were struck by the gunfire. Thomas and his wife were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. On march 2, 1978, thomas gutierrez unfortunately died while undergoing a second surgery to repair the damage caused by the gunshot wounds.
