Friends and relatives became concerned for lillian halpin after not hearing from her for several days in september of 1982. On september 12, at approximately 4:00 pm, friends came over to her apartment on the 9400 block of n. St. Louis avenue to check on her and discovered that ms. Halpin had been strangled. Ms. Halpin, a 59-year-old white woman, was a widow and manager of the apartment complex she resided in. Ms. Halpin had no criminal history with no reported drug use and no known boyfriend.
