On february 7, 1996, 40 year old, joseph talahytewa, a homeless male was hospitalized and succumbed to his injuries several days later. Police were called on a report that a person had been assaulted near the pikes peak liquor store on the corner of pikes peak and wahsatch boulevard. Hours after undergoing surgery mr. Talahytewa slipped into a coma and never regained consciousness. He was a member of the hopi tribe. He died on february 12, 1996. The investigation revealed a fight took place during the afternoon of february 7, 1996 behind the pikes peak liquor store. Mr. Talahytewa was able to communicate that he was assaulted by two people.
