On may 19, 1979, the severely beaten body of morton rosenfeld was found in the basement of the apartment where he was staying in estes park, colorado. A suspect was identified early in the investigation, however, there was not enough evidence to prosecute. In 2003, investigators traveled to california in an attempt to re-interview the suspect.
