On september 1, 1979, a family picking cattails found a body down an embankment, near indiana and west 82nd avenue. The body was later identified as linda hutchings, a 17-year-old arvada resident. Linda had been reported missing to the arvada police department on august 15, 1979. She was last seen at a friend's apartment in lakewood wearing white jeans, a white peasant-style top with embroidery, and tennis shoes. She may have been wearing a red coat. In the early morning hours of august 15 she left a note indicating she was headed home. Friends believed she had intended to hitchhike. Anyone with information regarding this case, is asked to please contact the jefferson county sheriff's office.
