On the evening of june 9, 1975, 26 year old bruce wrede and his friend were confronted by multiple suspects at their capitol hill apartment in what appeared to be a robbery attempt. One of the suspects was armed with a weapon and shot bruce wrede after he made efforts to prevent the robbery; the unknown assailant fled from the scene. Bruce wrede was immediately transported from the scene to a local hospital, but died shortly after arriving.
