Officers from the east precinct responded to 216 71st street north on a call of shots fired in the area. Officers arrived and discovered the victim in the rear of 130 71st street north suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham fire and rescue responded to the scene and the victim was transported to uab hospital. Detectives were later notified that the victim succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The preliminary investigation suggest the victim was walking an unknown person in a dark colored sedan appeared. An exchange of words occurred before the suspect opened fire striking the victim.
