At approximately 8:10 pm, south precinct officers began receiving multiple shot spotter alerts in the 800 block of 44th place north. Officers were alerted a person was shot in the 4400 block of 9th avenue north.Officers entered a parking lot when they observed the victim lying unresponsive on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.The preliminary investigation suggests there was an exchange of gunfire in the parking lot.
