On september 21, 2010, at about 3:30 a.M. Cpd officers responded to a shots fired call for service near 18 hanover. Officers arrived and located john jenkins deceased in the roadway in front of st. John’s episcopal church. John had been shot multiple times and was pronounced deceased at the scene. John was a vietnam veteran and one of the first african american business proprietors of an upscale jazz club located on jackson street called “club basin street”. John succumbed to the elements of the east side but, it did not prevent him from being a mentor to many young men, giving young mothers advice on how to handle their children when going astray. John was a humble man who loved sports trivia and conversations about family unity
