40 year old zdenka kalendovsky was a physician at the medical clinic located near the intersection of east colfax avenue and washington street. On february 7, 1977, after mrs. Kalendovsky finished work, she walked across the clinic's parking lot to her vehicle. It was at this point that an unknown suspect confronted mrs. Kalendovsky near her vehicle. The suspect produced a firearm, shot mrs. Kalendovsky, and then immediately fled the area. Mrs. Kalendovsky was transported to a local hospital, but died as a result of her injuries.
