At approximately 3:49 p.M., the birmingham 911 communication division received a call of a domestic disturbance and person shot at an apartment complex located at 1800 carson road. An officer from east precinct responded to the location and was met by the mother holding an unresponsive infant. It was determined the child sustained a gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue responded to the scene and the child was pronounced deceased. Details are limited in this investigation. It is not immediately clear how the child sustained the gunshot wound. The mother and father are being questioned by investigators. At this time, no formal charges have been filed. This is an ongoing investigation. It has been confirmed the mother of raylee allen is a jefferson county sheriff’s deputy.
