At approximately 2 a.M. On the morning of january 11, 1992, pedro pablo venegas pacheco was drinking beer with numerous friends in the lower floor dining room area of a two-story rental unit at 6826 ne killingsworth street. Suddenly, with no warning, a subject described as an asian male appeared at the sliding glass door of the apartment and began firing a pistol at close range at the subjects in the apartment. Two people were hit by the gunfire, one fatally. Pedro pacheco died at the scene as a result of numerous gun shot wounds. Mr. Pacheco was a legal immigrant who had no record of arrests. He appeared to be employed. He was not a resident of the apartment where the shooting occurred. Investigating detectives were unable to determine if mr. Pacheco had any prior contact with any asian males prior to this incident. The shooter seemed to fire randomly into the apartment as there were numerous people seated in the area of mr. Pacheco and more than one person was struck.
