Info

Approximately 2:30 am on the morning of july 19, 1998, police responded to various 911 calls from the el moro apartments located at 2016 se 122nd ave in portland. A resident of the el moro apartments had gone outside to find the deceased ausencio genchi garcia, a 27-year-old hispanic male, lying on the ground. An autopsy found that mr. Garcia had died of gunshot wounds. In the hours before the shooting, a fight nearly broke out at the el moro apartment complex between a large group of hispanics and several african american males. Mr. Garcia worked at a vegetable company in portland and was attending a party at el moro apartments that night and was not known to be violent or have a criminal record. Mr. Garcia seems to be a random victim of the shooting.
