Just after 6 p.M., west precinct officers were dispatched to a person shot call in the 1700 block of pearson avenue southwest.Officers arrived on the scene and then observed an adult male gunshot victim suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.Officers discovered the victim, melvin burkes, on the sidewalk suffering from life-threatening injuries.Community members and patrol officers performed life-saving aid burkes.Birmingham fire and rescue service personnel arrived and transported both victims to uab hospital.Melvin burkes succumbed to his injuries at uab hospital.The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were involved in an argument with a third adult male.
