On april 13, 1999, around 1 am, rodney austin was found lying in the street in the 4300 block of southern avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound. Mr. Austin was on his way home from work after completing a 3 pm - 12 am shift, in virginia, to his home in capitol heights, maryland. He was walking in the 4200 block of southern avenue on the maryland side when unknown subject(s) approached and shot the decedent at southern avenue and rail street, leaving him in the intersection suffering from his wounds.
