Richmond police department detectives have identified the victim in sunday’s homicide on fairfield way as jaquon mitchell, a male in his thirties. At approximately 4:28 p.M., officers were called to the 1500 block of mechanicsville turnpike for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found mitchell down and unresponsive in the eastbound lane of fairfield way at the intersection of mechanicsville turnpike. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. Several lanes of the intersection were closed to accommodate the investigation.Agency
