During the early morning hours of august 9th, 1995, 16 year-old shawndell banks was using the pay phone near the intersection of east 28th avenue and race street. At that time an unknown suspect approached shawndell and shot him multiple times. Denver police and medical personnel were dispatched and he was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries a few weeks later on august 21st, 1995.
