On march 12th, 2014, at approximately 10:55 p.M., a residential fire was reported in the 1200 block of w. Washington ave. Officers arrived and were able to rescue a female from inside the residence. Fire department personnel arrived to extinguish the fire and upon making entry into the residence discovered a male later identified as charles stewart, age 65 deceased. Through the course of the investigation homicide detectives have determined stewart was deceased prior to the fire and the victim of a homicide. Witnesses observed three individuals leaving the residence just prior to the fire.Agency
