On july 6, 2003, 18 year old ernest gallegos had just left the area of west 10th avenue and federal, where he had been talking with a group of females in a vehicle. As he drove southbound on federal boulevard a dark colored vehicle pulled alongside of him and began firing into his vehicle. After the shooting ernest's vehicle came to a stop due to a collision with a pole. Ernest was taken to the hospital and died as a result of his injuries.
