On march 5, 1976, the georgia bureau of investigation atlanta field office began investigating a robbery/homicide at elm street liquor store in covington, ga. The victim of the homicide was thomas blake armstrong jr., the owner of the liquor store.Two weeks prior to this robbery/homicide, a robbery of another liquor store occurred in the rockdale county area. At this robbery, it was stated that one perpetrator entered the liquor store while the other perpetrator remained in a vehicle outside of the store. In addition, it has been stated that the possibility exists that the same individuals could have committed both robberies.
