On the morning of wednesday, september 6, 1995, colorado springs police were notified of a deceased woman in a ground floor apartment at the citadel village apartments, 3431 galley rd. The victim, identified as 86 year old rosa mary desalvo, was found in the bedroom of her apartment and had sustained apparent blunt force trauma. Investigation revealed that victim lived alone and had last been seen alive by a caretaker on the previous evening. It appeared that forcible entry had been made to the apartment; no witnesses to the entry or assault were located. About two months later, a second victim, 96 year old marjorie mock, was found deceased in another apartment of the same complex. Similarities to the desalvo homicide were identified, including victim age, location, and nature of injuries, leading investigators to believe the two cases may be linked (see separate entry for marjorie mock).
