On may 29, 2002, the medina county sheriff's office received a call from a visitor to the griffin property. The caller had gone to griffin's to purchase firewood from griffin. When griffin did not respond to the door, the caller entered and observed blood. Deputies responded and entered the travel trailer which served as griffin's residence and found griffin dead, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. The case remains unsolved.
