Info

In the early morning hours before dawn on september 2, 1986, terrence demildenhall, a 22-year-old white male transient, was found shot to death next to the seawall in waterfront park just 100 yards north of the morrison bridge. Mr. Demildenhall was last seen alive sleeping in the same spot at approximately 12:30 am. Just 5 months later on february 27, 1987, fred edgi, a 36-year-old northwest native american originally from canada, was found shot to death under the west side of the burnside bridge near front avenue (now naito parkway) just before dawn. A handwritten note was found near the body claiming responsibility. Fred was a talented amateur artist who had recently came to portland a few days before he was killed. The circumstances for the murders of terrence and fred are remarkably similar. Both were transients found shot to death in their sleeping bags in the early morning hours less than half of a mile apart. Terrence and fred had been described as heavy drinkers of alcohol. Investigators believe these two homicides are connected and may have been committed by the same individual.
