On november 10, 2004, officers were dispatched to the meadows apartments on the report of a shooting. Officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Bernardo was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The other victim, jorge saenz-rodriguez was found deceased in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Witnesses in the area did not see the shooting but indicated they had seen a vehicle leave the area. The suspect(s) responsible for these deaths have yet to be identified.
