On may 6, 1992, gary potak and charles “chick” gombrewicz (now deceased) drove to father panik village in bridgeport to purchase marijuana. As they circled the housing project two males crossed the street in front of their vehicle. Gary potak was driving and stopped to let these two individuals cross. One of these males walked over to driver's side of the car and asked gary potak what he was looking at. Gary answered that he wanted to buy “pot." this male pulled out a gun and told the two to get out of the car. The passenger (gombrewicz) exited the vehicle and heard gun shots and ran off. The passenger later learned that potak had been fatally shot.
