On january 3, 2016, at 7:30pm, columbus police were sent to the 5800 block of riverton road off of mcnaughten road, on a report of a man lying in a resident's front yard. When officers arrived, they found a 52-year old white male, later identified as leonid kaplan, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Kaplan and his mother lived in the area where his body was found, and he was seen frequently jogging in the area.
