On the afternoon of tuesday, november 7, 2000, a 9-1-1 call was received asking for the police to respond to an apartment address in the 12300 block of southeast kelly st. The caller stated his cousin had just been shot by intruders into the apartment. When police arrived, they found the deceased, tyrone duane abraham, in the apartment he shared with his girlfriend, corrine hoffard. She was not home at the time of the shooting, but the two-year-old son of mr. Abraham and ms. Hoffard was in the apartment at the time of the shooting. Mr. Abraham was shot in full view of his two-year-old son and his cousin, who had placed the 911 call. Mr. Abraham’s cousin was able to provide the police with a description of the intruders. He also said one of the intruders identified himself as “jb” and was apparently known to the victim. It was also apparent from the circumstances of the homicide that the homicide was planned in advance of the intruders’ entry into the apartment. A neighbor reported seeing subjects flee from the apartment to a white 4-door vehicle which then left the area on southeast kelly st. There had been reports to the police about drug activity in the apartment complex. Mr. Abraham had been arrested for drug possession in the past and also had been known to have gang contacts.
