At approximately 6:30 in the evening on january 26, 1994, an unknown male armed with a handgun forcefully entered the victim’s residence at 6316 n. Williams avenue after the victim’s wife opened the door to see who knocked. The victim, 47 year-old dan merton thomas, a white male, confronted the unknown male. At this time, the intruder shot mr. Thomas and fled the residence. Witnesses report seeing a group of young african-american males walking by the residence minutes before hearing the gun shot. It was reported that mr. Thomas had a small marijuana grow in his basement and had at times sold some of his crop. Witnesses described the shooter as a young african-american teenager. Police believe that the motive for this was robbery.
