On Friday, September 5, 1996, Riverside Police Officers responded to 7756 California Street for a shooting. The victim, 24-year-old Christopher Alvarez, was shot and then ran to a nearby apartment for help. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, but he ultimately died from the multiple gunshot wounds he suffered. Numerous people were interviewed during the initial investigation but were hesitant to provide information out of fear of retaliation.Agency
