Just after 1:30 a.M., north precinct officers responded to a shotspotter notification registering approximately 10 rounds of gunfire in the 800 block of jasper road.Officers arrived on the scene and canvassed the area but did not see anything suspicious or anyone in need of help.At approximately 1:51 a.M., the call was updated to a person shot. When officers arrived on the scene, they entered an apartment and observed the adult male victim lying on the floor unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham fire and rescue services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was inside the kitchen area of his residence when an unknown person fired shots through the back door, fatally wounding the victim. The victim’s roommate was also inside and called 911 emergency services
