On september 6, 1996, at approximately 5:45 p.M., waverly leroy cameron, jr. Was found deceased in a wooded area on interstate 264 at the effingham street on-ramp in the city of portsmouth. The victim died from a single gunshot wound to the back of his head. According to the medical examiner, the victim had been killed approximately one and a half to two weeks prior to the discovery.
